After the recent comments on my PAD, I googled "Kittens and Rainbows". This is the result.

Today, I was trying to submit a story to MLIA. The page crashed. I felt like it was telling me my stories suck, and that I need to spend more time studying. MLIA.

that's what she said.

reading MLIA, I came across this and had a cottage flashback.
Today my dad made a sad excuse for a "that's what she said" joke. Trying to be cool, I said "dad, that doesn't fit." He replied with "that's what she said." I have never laughed so hard in my life. MLIA
Good times.

It's coming.

Since I don't watch TV, I only just found out Grey's Anatomy is premiering Sept 24.
That's only like, 7 weeks away. EXCITING!!

a free all-night contemporary art thing.

Whie being treated very poorly at the bank the other day, I was intrigued when I saw a sign for Nuit Blanche, October 3rd. I googled it and was pleased with the result.

"For one sleepless night experience the city transformed by more than 550 artists for Toronto’s fourth annual sunset to sunrise celebration of contemporary art. Discover art in galleries, museums and unexpected places. From churches and grocery stores to chimney stacks and bus stations, choose from more than 132 installations and chart your own path."

Sounds awesome.

Why I love Canada

The weather forecast is warning of "LARGE HAIL UP TO TOONIE SIZE". I remember asking for Loonies in NZ and they looked at me like I was slightly crazy. "Do you mean... a COIN?"

NZ and Australia have boring names like "5-cent" "50 cent" and "one dollar" etc. Not to mention our coins and compact and light!

A new read

As some of you know, I have a fascination with Japan. This largely began with the book Memoirs of a Geisha, and has gone on from there. I think the movie is fabulous as well, for the fact of the visuals it brings to life that you just can't fully grasp by reading the book (if you haven't done your research on Japan).
I just discovered that Mineko Iwasaki, the source for the author, wrote her own "true" version of the story. She actually sued Arthur Golden for mentioning her name in the credits as she had requested confidentiality.

Geisha, a Life has gotten mixed reviews but I'm still looking forward to reading it. I'll let you know what I think!
