hair GPOYs

I have to say I'm pretty pleased with my hair-did for reception (aka Stephanie & Curt's wedding #2). I won't pretend this was my first attempt but it should have been... flat-iron curls, loose pony, pin the ends under and voila. Easy, and my new go-to updo!

Ignore the weird looking hunchback!

faker

Sometime more than a year ago I bought fake lashes. I never wore them, and finally tried them on last weekend. they looked terrible! I have near non-existant eyelids when my eyes are open, and the lash line was way too dark. My sister had the answer: quo brand lashes. They have a pretty good selection, from the shortest & most natural looking(this pair) to blingy for a night clubbing (well, I assume that's where you'd wear them!)

Before:

After:

I wore them at a stag & doe last weekend, and all of my friends I mentioned my fake lashes to (said they) couldn't even tell. They aren't too odd to wear (although you can feel them when you blink!) but the key, according to my sister, is to have a backup eyeliner (or the glue) in your purse in case they come off at the end of a long night out. My mark. waterproof liner/ mascara hook-up combo is perfect.

I find applying a liquid liner (or fine pencil line if that's all you have) before applying the lashes helps the look. Which means learning how to apply liquid liner for me, lol! Removing the glue after each use can extend the life, but the package indicates about 3 weeks of use max - so you'll get at least a few wears out of them, and they don't break the bank at about $6.99 per pair (although I got mine on sale!).
I recommend these for sure, I'm a convert!

(Find out how to apply them here)

covet

Just discovered the "gaga" shade at MAC. I want. A gorgeous pale blue-pink! This is one covet I may have to give in to, especially since every cent of the proceeds goes to the MAC-AIDS fund. Done.

I'm Callah, and I have an addiction.

Nail polish (fueled by my friends aesthetician discount). I added all these beauties to my collection yesterday. I think I need one of those display racks they have at salons.

I ♥ NY

But, just the state will do. Made another shopping excursion today. Watch for some 'what she wore' posts coming soon... I FINALLY (and I do mean FINALLY) found a pair of skinny jeans. Nude pumps still escape me, though.
Also added some cute new plaid shirts to the mix, and a lace tank. Shopping in the states always pleases me immensely.

Fresh faced for Spring!

Every so often I go a little nuts with the mark. shopping - today I received a box filled with goodies (mostly for myself).
It Kit (and mini-brush set): 3 shadows, bronzer, and the inside flips to reveal 3 all-over cream shades & 3 lip glosses - perfect for any mini-vacations... or weddings!
Gloss gorgeous: lip gloss that wears off into to a lip stain (in Pop)
Dew Drenched lipstick: pink posy (the tube is so cute... smaller than my thumb, but it's full-size inside!)
and, an SPF face lotion for oily skin. It is actually AMAZING. Not greasy or goopy at all.
So, I'm all set for summer!

As mad as a hatter

Was reading an interesting article about "Killer Fashion" in the paper today, and learned something new about the "Mad Hatter" character...
...hatmakers were forced to rely on cheaper furs such as rabbit. But in order to turn these alternative materials into the desirable hats, hatters had to brush them with a mercury solution which led to mercury poisoning.

"Symptoms of mercury poisoning included pallor, anemia, disorientation and trembling," says Matthews David -- the exact symptoms that Johnny Depp displays as the crazy Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's current box office hit Alice in Wonderland. Matthews David says that Alice author Lewis Carroll grew up in one of England's busy hat making centres in the 19th century. It's likely he saw the "mad hatters" that led him to create the fictional character in his now famous book.

I wish..

my fashionable B.C. friends lived in Toronto. Since I'm FB friends with Brandon Dwyer, I get invites to his shows and - get this - an after party with a Betsey Johnson fashion show, Andi Muise & Agyness Dean (who I once tried to imitate hair-wise, and will never do again).
Anyone wanna come down for April 1st?

loves

I can't remember which blog I found this on.

These Alice-themed heels. Splendora.

Oh, and on that note... I saw Alice in Wonderland on opening night, last Friday. I loved it. It was way less acid-trippy and had an actual moral going on. 3D, I'm not so fussed about, although it was cool for the falling-down-the-rabbit-hole scene. Definitely a go-see!

Christian Siriano for Payless

Did anyone else know Christian Siriano did a line for Payless? Probably, I'm always so out of it. (Granted, this is the American site and probably isn't even available in Canada, or else costs like 50% more, based on my personal experience...)
Anyways, check out the HEELS!

Red Carpet faves

Faves of the night. (Does anyone else think awards shows are WAY too long? I always throw in the towel before the biggest awards are given out.)
Tina Fey, simple & classy in Michael Kors.

SJP in Chanel Couture. While I don't love the overall shape, the top portion in fantastic. (Except when it appeared to be choking her during her presentation!)

Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab. I love the muted colour palette (although not necessarily the pattern), and the draping.

JLo in Armani Prive. One word: stunning!

Miley Cyrus in Jenny Packham. I love the corset-style top!

designer vino

Celebs slapping their name on wine should be no surprise, but it was cool to see French wine by Christian Audigier at the duty free in London.

Picked myself up a bottle of Merlot, and my sister went for the Cab Sauv. (The £52 is for the Champagne, the wine was a bargain £14.99!) It will be my reward once the 30-day yoga challenge is complete. What better way to reward yourself by getting shitfaced.

Cool find

One of my few purchases in the UK was some Urban Decay cosmetics. I've been after the eyeshadow primer potion (which is AMAZING, makeup normally slides right off my face!), and found an awesome bargain including a few different minis- which are all amazing.
Anyways, perusing the Urban Decay website, I discovered this Alice in Wonderland limited edition kit.

Too cool!

Had to have this when I saw it at Forever 21. Opens into a locket- perhaps a picture of my cat inside?
